The National League of Poker, a leading online gambling poker group, will be operating under the name of Power Play Development Corporation from now on. After merging with the publicly traded company recently, NLOP and its software provider, Poker Creations, as part of the agreement, will assume management control and will exist as fully owned subsidiaries of the new online gambling entity.
‘We felt there was an immediate opportunity for growth in our market. Congress passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) earlier this month and that has dramatically changed the online poker landscape, and brought the demand for a US-legal compliant online poker alternative forward exponentially. We believe that NLOP will be in a stronger position to gain mass-market exposure as a publicly-traded company,’ said Alan Miller Chairman of online gambling group, NLOP. The NLOP is a marketing, software, online gambling and sweepstakes portal that can accept US players because its revenues come solely from advertising.
The NLOP also hopes the merger will bring greater exposure to non-poker offerings. By allowing its online gambling players to compete for free, the NLOP stays within the confines of the UIGEA. Poker will continue to be a main attraction, but up and coming games like Mai Jong may find a place on the site as online gambling sponsors become interested in attaching their names to legal US interactive gaming. Only time will tell if all of these changes will have a positive impact for the parties involved, as well as the online gambling fans who play at these gaming groups.
